KweKlo Data

A shared foundation for language technology. Growing from voice collection toward one app for voice-related and OCR data.

The combined app is a direction in development.

Explore the project

Building on the voice-collection work previously called KweKlo Voice, the next direction brings spoken-language and OCR-data workflows together.

The focus is useful, reviewable data and clear context for what people contribute. The combined workflow is still being developed.

Text recognition

KweKlo OCR

Working toward Sgaw Karen text recognition from images, so written language can become easier to access and work with digitally.

Model and demo work are in development.

The project explores recognizing Sgaw Karen text in images. Data preparation, recognition models, and demo work form part of this effort.

Evaluation on real images remains important. No recognition-accuracy claim is made here.

KweKlo Write

A practical way to explore Sgaw Karen lettering and stroke order, with a focus on how each letter takes shape.

An existing project, formerly Stroke Studio.

Language is more than a technical problem. Our approach puts useful data, community review, and everyday needs at the center.

The purpose behind the work

  1. Collect with context.

    Give language data a clear source and purpose. Make consent and contribution expectations part of the collection process.

  2. Make room for review.

    Value fluent-speaker and community review. Careful checks matter for recordings, text labels, and learning materials.

  3. Build for everyday use.

    Focus on understandable tools and practical tasks. Let what works, what needs improvement, and what is still developing stay visible.
